Scotland is renowned as the home of golf and the area of Moray has an abundance and huge variety of courses to suit all levels of golfers. The local golf course at Garmouth & Kingston (www.garmouthkingstongolfclub.com) nestles on the west bank of the River Spey near the mouth of the river. It is a combination of a parkland/links course with 18 holes par 69 and is a fairly easy course. Because of the close proximity to the River Spey during the summer months Ospreys are frequently spotted. Nearby Garmouth to the east is the Spey Bay 18 hole links course which is lined by the beach on one side and plays over rows of shingle banks creating undulations over the course. Six miles to the west is Moray Golf Club 18 hole par 71 Championship Old Course in Lossiemouth considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland designed by renowned Tom Morris and features deep bunkers, gorse lined fairways and fast greens. Adjacent to the Old Course is the 18 hole par 69 New Course at Lossiemouth and features tighter fairways and smaller greens making it an exciting challenge. Inland and within easy driving distance is the Elgin Golf Club and is oneof the finest inland courses in the north of Scotland and features 18 holes par 69 and is challenging to golfers of all abilities. The course enjoys panoramic views towards the coast to the north and to the Cairngorm mountains to the south. Further inland there are smaller courses at Rothes, Dufftown and Keith.
